Southeast Delco School District COVID-19 Information

    Updated 3/24/2020

Good evening Southeast Delco families. Please listen to the Tuesday March 24, 2020 COVID-19 update for Southeast Delco in its entirety. There are four significant items that are addressed in this message.

As you may already be aware, Governor Wolf has now extended the school closure across the Commonwealth through April 6, 2020. This means all Southeast Delco schools and offices will continue to be closed until further notice. We will update the community if Governor Wolf revises this date.

We understand that families are asking for new instruction for their children. Therefore starting this Monday, March 30th 2020 electronic copies of optional learning activities for all grade levels will be available at on the Southeast Delco website at www.sedelco.org. Hard copies will also be available for pick up at each of our sites delivering food bundles. These activities are designed to reinforce or supplement previously taught content. All activities will be divided by grade level. You will just need to select or pick up the grade level appropriate for each child. Please understand students should have brought home all resource materials previously to help complete this work.

We are happy to report that we continue to deliver approximately 400 meal bundles per day at district schools. There will be one change starting this Thursday March 26th 2020. Tomorrow will be the last day for meal bundle pick up at the Kindergarten Center and Sharon Hill School. Starting Thursday, all students residing in our district should go to one of those four sites to pick up their meal bundles. Bundles will still be available at Darby Township, Delcroft, Harris, and Academy Park.

Finally, we are aware that some students who take medication may have supplies in our schools. If this is true, and the medication needs to be retrieved, please come to your child’s school from 12pm-1pm each weekday. Ask for an administrator. They will help you retrieve your child’s medicine after you present proper identification.

Please understand that everyone in the school district is doing what they can to assist families during this crisis, subject to the guidance provided by the Pennsylvania Department of Education and Delaware County Intermediate Unit. We greatly appreciate the patience and trust you have shown throughout this time. If we can keep looking out for each other, we will make it through this.

Thank you and have a good evening.

    Good afternoon Southeast Delco staff.

This message is specifically for district staff. Please read this entire announcement about the closure of all schools in the Southeast Delco School District for the next two weeks. Governor Wolf has mandated the closure of all K-12 schools across Pennsylvania. This means that all Southeast Delco Schools and offices will be closed from Saturday March 14, 2020 until Friday March 27, 2020.

All district employees are to remain home during the next two weeks. Professional staff will receive documents to complete during a remote in-service day on Monday. All other staff are not being asked to complete anything at this time, though there may be requests for voluntary assistance for some activities. All district staff WILL be paid during the mandated closure.

We are currently working on plans for educational opportunities, food services, business continuity, and other critical items. As the plans for these evolve, we will share them with the staff and the community.

Please check your email regularly. As always, all future updates will be made via our global messaging system, our website, and our TV station.

Thank you for working with us through this turbulent time.

The mission of the Southeast Delco School District is to nurture, educate, and challenge students to become lifelong learners, possessing knowledge, compassion, and a desire to serve the global community.
