Dear Southeast Delco Stakeholders:
Southeast Delco School District is engaged in a state-required comprehensive planning process. All Pennsylvania School Districts are required to develop a Comprehensive District Level Plan that enlists the input of all stakeholders and submit to the Pennsylvania Department of Education every three years. This plan will chart the District’s pathway for continuous improvement for the next three years. Commencing January 2022 through June 2022, stakeholders will participate in discussions, surveys, focus groups and planning in the following areas:
- Special Education Services
- Academic Standards and Assessments
- New Teacher Induction,
- Professional Development
- Mission and Vision
- Finances and Resource Allocation
- Communication
The District assembled a Steering Committee comprised of students, members of the Board of Directors, parents, guardians, faculty, staff, administrators, religious leaders, university partners, business owners, and community agencies. As part of the planning, the District has also convened four sub-committees that have been critically analyzing data, reviewing practices and the current outcomes in the following areas: academic standards and assessments, professional development, new teacher induction, and special education and gifted services.
On Thursday, January 27, 2022, Dr. Brenda G. Wynder, Southeast Delco School District’s Superintendent, provided the Board of Directors a high leverage overview of the Comprehensive Planning process, including its purpose, the current plan (2019-2022), the 2022 timeline, and the stakeholder groups who were invited to participate in the planning.
On Wednesday, March 16, 2022 the Southeast Delco School District’s Board of Directors, Superintendent and Steering Committee kicked off the Comprehensive Planning process. A second Comprehensive Planning Meeting took place on April 7, 2022 and the final meeting will convene on May 18, 2022. As the planning and development of the Comprehensive Plan was underway, Dr. Wynder provided the Board of Directors and the public updates on February 24, 2022 and March 24, 2022. The Board of Directors will be briefed on Thursday, April 28, 2022 and Thursday, May 26, 2022 on the current status of the Plan.
The Superintendent and the Steering Committee will present the draft Comprehensive Plan to the Board of Directors for review on June 23, 2022. Immediately after the meeting the draft Comprehensive District Level Plan will be available on the District’s website for a 28-day public comment period. Copies will be available at each school for stakeholders who are unable to access the document online. A formal presentation of the proposed final Comprehensive District Level Plan will be made to the Board of Directors at a regular Board of Directors’ Meeting on July 28, 2022. During this meeting, Dr. Brenda G. Wynder and District Administration will request formal Board approval of the Comprehensive District Level Plan for submission to the Pennsylvania Department of Education. Upon Board approval, the Plan will be uploaded to the Pennsylvania Department of Education’s portal no later than August 30, 2022.
Southeast Delco’s School District welcomes your comments and suggestions, which may be submitted directly through a feedback form on the District’s website on June 23, 2022. Paper copies of the proposed Comprehensive District Level Plan and Public Comment Response Forms are available at each school and at the District's Administrative Offices for review during regular school and business hours. Should you have any questions, regarding the draft Comprehensive District Level Plan, please email [email protected]. The plan is available here.
Special gratitude to the Board of Directors, Steering Committee, Sub-Committee members and all members of our Learning Community who are devoting a great deal of time and making significant contributions to the completion of this document. Thank you for your support, and feedback to improve academic outcomes and the overall educational experience for students, families, faculty and staff within the Southeast Delco School District.
