The number pi helps mathematicians calculate measurements of circles, which appear everywhere from wheels to architecture. It’s a reminder of how math shapes the world around us! 🌎📐

Music in Our Schools Month is a wonderful reminder of how fortunate we are to offer strong music programs in Southeast Delco! 🎶

Research suggests students who study music develop better focus, discipline, and time-management skills. Our talented students use music as a powerful form of self-expression and connection.

We are excited to spotlight Christina Speace, member of the Academy Park High School class of 2004! 🌟

After graduating, Christina began working at the University of Pennsylvania, where she gained valuable professional experience while exploring her interests. During that time, she attended evening trade school for graphic design, balancing long days of work with classes several nights a week.

That determination led to a position with Barksdale School Portraits, where Christina has now worked for more than 15 years and now serves as a portal coordinator supporting schools with data, IDs, certificates, and yearbook resources.

We are proud to celebrate Christina’s journey and the example she sets through hard work and perseverance! 💙

Academy Park High School students are invited to apply for the 2026 Ethan Joner Memorial Foundation Scholarship. ⭐️

This scholarship honors the memory of Ethan Joner and recognizes a student who demonstrates the same passion, kindness, generosity, and commitment to making a positive impact in the community.

Eligible applicants must be APHS students with at least a 2.7 GPA who show a dedication to helping others. Students are encouraged to share how they have made a difference in their community in their own creative way, whether through an essay, video, or another format that highlights their involvement and impact.

REMINDER: There will be no school March 9-10 for staff professional development. ✍️🗓️

The annual District Band Concert will take the stage on Tuesday, March 17 at Academy Park High School. 🎺

Students from the four 1st-8th grade schools will come together for a performance beginning at 7:00pm. Families and community members are encouraged to attend and support these talented performers. 🎶

We are proud to spotlight Southeast Delco graduate Angel Young from the APHS Class of 2004! ✨

While attending our schools, Angel spent time assisting the APHS vice principal’s secretary, gaining valuable experience that helped shape her professional goals.

After several years in retail, Angel transitioned into administrative roles, including work in a pediatric healthcare office, where supporting families and healthcare professionals reinforced her passion for helping others. This experience inspired her to further her education and focus on the healthcare field.

In May 2024, Angel earned an associate degree from Delaware County Community College and is currently pursuing a medical coding and billing certification through Penn Foster. Her journey reflects resilience, growth, and a commitment to lifelong learning! 🎓

Reminder: There will be no school February 12-13 for staff professional development. All students and staff are also off Monday, February 16.

The next regular day of school will be Tuesday, February 17.
