Dear Parents/Guardians, August, 2016
I hope this letter finds you enjoying the last couple weeks of summer and preparing your child for the 2016-17 school year. I anticipate an exciting year as we collectively strive to foster a student centered learning community. I am very lucky to be working with such a great group of students, families, and staff members here at Harris. We have been working hard this summer to ensure that our students are going to have a great 2016-17 school year and we are excited to open doors at Harris on Tuesday, August 30th for the first day of school.
This years “Meet and Greet” for our students and their families to meet their child’s new teacher and it will be held on Monday, August 29th. In addition to the meet and greet, we will be holding our “Sneak a Peek” for our incoming 1st graders prior to the meet and greet. This is an opportunity for our 1st graders to visit with a parent or guardian to see their new classroom, meet their teacher, and tour Harris prior to the first day of school.
Research confirms that a parent’s interest and involvement in their child’s education is the most significant reason why children are successful at school. Please know that we highly value home and school communication here at Harris. It is vital that we work together to make Harris a great place to work and learn each day. I encourage you to contact us if/when the need arises, and to stay up to date with your child’s classwork, homework, tests, and school activities, as well as other special events.
We look forward to working in partnership with you to ensure that your child reaches their full potential. I am very proud to be a part of the Harris Community and I look forward to a productive and enriching 2016-17 school year. Please enjoy the remaining days of the summer, and if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to call or email me here at Harris.
