    Reading Specialist

Hello Darby Township Families! The 2017-2018 school year will be my third year at the school. I graduated from Temple University with the highest honors in Early Childhood and Elementary Education. I went on to earn my Master's Degree in Education where my area of study was Reading. I have been a teacher for 20 years. I spent the first fifteen years as a teacher and teacher leader in the School District of Philadelphia and the last six years working as a reading specialist.

I am a Reading Interventionist for grades 1-4, and I also work with 6th grade students for one period per day. I use a program called Leveled Literacy Intervention. It is a research based program that is proven to increase students literacy levels. I have experienced only success stories while using this program. The literature we read is engaging, supportive, and enriching. I am passionate about creating readers that read for enjoyment and read to learn. I teach students strategies they can use to read and understand both fiction and nonfiction pieces of literature. I look forward to working with your children for the 2017-2018 school year.
