    District Announcement 7/24/2020

Good evening Southeast Delco families. Please read this important message concerning the plan and timeline for reopening Southeast Delco schools in the 2020-2021 school year. District officials have been meeting regularly to plan for a return to learning under the guidelines provided by Governor’s Wolf’s office and the Department of Health. We are now announcing the following timeline:

-Last night, July 23rd, the School Board approved a new school calendar which sets the first day of school for students as September 8th.

-On August 6th, the School Board will vote on the Southeast Delco reopening plan, which will include up to date guidance from state officials.

-Any necessary revisions to the plan will be completed by August 11th. The plan will then be posted on our website, with global calls made to all district stakeholders.

We are sure that everyone would like this process to be quicker. However to ensure that we have met all requirements, it is imperative we conduct a thorough planning and review process. It is our goal that this process leads to the optimal model for a return to learning for Southeast Delco School District students.

Thank you for your understanding as we aim for a safe opening for all Southeast Delco families.

    Please be safe.

The federal Families First Coronavirus Response Act of 2020 provides temporary benefits, referred to as Pandemic Electronic Benefit Transfer (P-EBT), to families of school-aged children who would receive free or reduced-priced meals if school was in session. The school must participate in the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) in order for children to be eligible for free or reduced-price meals and the student must have attended the school as of March 13, 2020.

Families that receive SNAP or TANF should have already had their benefits issued to their EBT card. If not, families should submit an inquiry at https://www.emergencymealsurvey.com/PA.

All others, cards are in the process of being issued and mailed, but due to the very large volume, the timeline is slightly delayed.  Households should receive their cards by the end of July.

Families with other questions should go to the DHS website: https://www.dhs.pa.gov/providers/Providers/Pages/Coronavirus-Pandemic-EBT.aspx

The mission of the Southeast Delco School District is to nurture, educate, and challenge students to become lifelong learners, possessing knowledge, compassion, and a desire to serve the global community.
